Our Team
Team Bath Drones is comprised of 10 core technical members and 3 supporting roles providing diverse skills and perspectives across the team. The team study various degrees including aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, finance, and humanities subjects. Additionally, we are nurturing a junior cohort of over 100 members across the university age groups, fostering interest and exposure to the world of drones. Our diversity is our strength. Shivam Naik
Shivam leads with an ambitious and focused mindset. He brings strong experience from his time at Lockheed Martin as a Systems Engineer and Project Manager of the Skytracer UAS GBDP team. He places a strong emphasis on connecting with partners in industry and developing innovative design.
Team LeadOscar Ferenczy
Oscar provides clinical technical expertise and oversight. He is an experienced RC hobbyist and drone pilot with strong industrial experience at Callen-Lenz. He specialises in Avionics and System Design, with plans to develop a custom autopilot carrier module for his final year project.
Technical LeadTechnical IntegratorChristopher Jachens
Chris imparts full development & integration expertise. He holds a wealth of knowledge on drone development and hobby RC aircraft as well as experience in industry at Callen-Lenz. He encourages and leads a junior development initiative as well as directing manufacturing operations.
William D'Arcy-Jones
Modelling & Simulation LeadWilliam brings exceptional capability in modelling and simulation, rapidly developing accurate representations of complex systems. With strong knowledge in flight dynamics, stability, and control, he plays a critical role in validating designs and ensuring the aircraft performs reliably and predictably across all flight conditions.

Payload Lead | Junior DevelopmentSam leads payload innovation, developing creative engineering solutions to minimise fluid sloshing and improve in-flight stability. Alongside this, he plays a key role in junior development, guiding early year engineers through the Design and Make programme and enabling them to design, build, and test their own aircraft.

Electrical Lead | SponsorshipsIshaan oversees the avionics and electrical architecture of the aircraft, ensuring robust, reliable, and efficient onboard systems. In addition, he manages sponsor relations, external partnerships, and outreach activities, helping strengthen industry connections and secure vital support for the team.

Aerodynamics LeadTom leads aerodynamic design with extensive knowledge of airfoil theory, aerodynamic optimisation, and performance analysis. With strong industry experience, he focuses on maximising lift-to-drag efficiency, refining wing and control surface design, and improving overall aircraft performance, stability, and flight envelope capability.

Payload Systems | ModellingRishi combines aerospace knowledge with analytical modelling expertise to support payload and system design. His work focuses on improving payload efficiency, refining valve mechanisms, and using modelling tools to validate performance and optimise system behaviour.
Tommy Walker
Finance ManagerTommy manages the team’s financial planning and expenditure, applying his accounting expertise to maintain clear budget oversight. He helps optimise resource allocation, track spending, and ensure sponsor contributions are used effectively to maximise the team’s operational capability.

Structures & Manufacturing LeadHet drives the structural and manufacturing direction of the team with a strong background in composite design and fabrication. His expertise enables the team to optimise structural efficiency while refining manufacturing workflows, ensuring high-quality builds with reduced production time.
Samuel Chung
Asc. Project ManagerSamuel applies his mechanical engineering background to coordinate project progress across the team. He tracks milestones, ensures alignment with technical goals and competition requirements, and helps maintain structured, efficient development throughout the project lifecycle.
